This was painted on a trip to the amazing Bodega Bay and Sonoma County. When looking for a cool spot to paint in the countryside, I stumbled on the artistic enclave called Duncan Mills. Besides having a great selection of antique stores, cafes and camping they had their own rodeo facility and one actually going on when I was there. I decided to paint a plein air study right then and there and created this finished painting in studio when I got back to Long Beach. I highly recommend a visit to this town and take in the rodeo when you are there!
